We were delighted to recently celebrate The Kitchens 1st Birthday!

For those who don’t know the history of The Kitchen, the venue has been in the hands of Anthony and Jo for the past 15 years and operated as a gastropub called The Inn. Jo & Anthony always had a vision to offer something different with rustic British cooking at its core, so in March 2016 The Kitchen was born!

The team are obsessive about great food, which is no surprise given Anthony and Jo’s first class culinary background. Anthony trained classically at the Savoy and Dorchester, as well as gaining expertise at the world renowned Hotel du Cap. Jo is a graduate in food marketing and business, and alongside Anthony shares a love of seasonal, fresh, British dishes with a contemporary and exciting twist.

Those who know The Kitchen, love The Kitchen. With fabulous reviews both from the public and the press it seemed only fitting that their 1st birthday was celebrated with loyal regulars and local food heroes which included Award Winning Butchers Aubrey Allen – who are by Royal Appointment to The Queen, and the Cotswolds Distillery, whose Gin recently won ‘World’s Best London Dry Gin’ and was featured in the welcome drinks. The guests were treated to bowl food featured on the menu, including Oxford Blue Bubble & Squeak, Fish Cakes and Warm Doughnuts served with Chocolate Sauce.

Anthony gave a short speech on their dream to “create a community foodie hub for the 21st Century – with customers at the very heart of The Kitchen” and added that “During summer The Kitchen was over 30% self-sufficient, using fruit, veg and herbs plucked straight from the ground that day. We are excited to become even more sustainable in our second year”

Jo said “We wanted to thank all our lovely regulars and fantastic suppliers for their support and custom over the last 12 months. The last year has been extremely exciting and we have created an amazing network of local producers and suppliers who share our values and many have joined us to celebrate. A huge amount of hard work and dedication has made The Kitchen a wonderful place to relax in – and reading the generous reviews our customers have written has made it all worthwhile”
